Established in 2010 and based in Hahndorf in the beautiful Adelaide Hills, Mordrelle Wines is a family owned boutique wine producer. It is owned by winemaker Martin Moran, his wife Michelle and her family, David and Jane Dreckow. Mordrelle is well known for making Premium Boutique wines. Mordrelle’s labels are created from original artworks painted by Jose Luis Moran, Martin’s late father.

ABOUT MORDRELLE 2016 'BASKET PRESS' SYRAH

The Adelaide Hills is a long and narrow wine region that stretches from the Barossa to its north down to McLaren Vale. It is one of Australia’s coolest and most elevated wine regions, with a climate similar to Tasmania and parts of northern Victoria.

The fruit was handpicked from a single vineyard then fermented, manually plunged and basket pressed. The wine was left to mature over 12 month in oak barrel. This beautiful wine was produced in small quantity - only 1600 bottles made.

This wine region is a leader in cool-climate Shiraz and this wine is a great example. It is elegant and lighter in style – very different from the big, bold reds of South Australia’s warmer regions. Try it with grilled lamb and grilled eggplants.
