Chloe & Sam had worked in the wine industry for years, Chloe in product development and Sam as a winemaker, and they decided to create their own wine brand. They launched Berg Herring Wines in 2018.

Berg Herring is well known for their small batch of premium wine from McLaren Vale, but also for their gorgeous cellar door that is a sandstone chapel overlooking the hills and the ocean, built in 1862. Well worth stopping by to say Hi !

ABOUT BERG HERRING 2021 PROSECCO

The fruit comes from 4 year old vines, in the southern end of McLaren Vale. This wine region is the birthplace of wine in South Australia and offers one of the most geologically diverse regions (19 soil types have been mapped) with a Mediterranean climate, which is ideal growing conditions for different grape varieties.

The fruit was picked early, crushed immediately on arrival to the winery and then went through a gentle basket pressing process. Fermentation is in stainless steel to keep the fresh character of Prosecco grapes. To transform this still wine into sparkling, the wine undergoes the charmat method, resulting in elegant fine bubbles.

This dry style Prosecco is perfectly suited to all occasions, be that a casual afternoon with friends or a special celebration. Chloe & Sam suggest trying it with freshly shucked oysters with a squeeze of lemon, or a cheese platter.

ABOUT BERG HERRING 2021 GRENACHE ROSÉ

The fruit comes from 30 year old grenache vines, in the southern end of McLaren Vale. On arrival to the winery, the grapes are pressed immediately. Fermentation is predominantly in stainless steel and about 10% in oak to add structure to the wine. After ferment, the wine is filtered and bottled to preserve fruit flavor and purity.

This is a food friendly Rosé, great with seafood, light pastas and salads. Try it with grilled salmon and a watermelon salad !
